The history of the Faculty began in 1938 as the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature, and its new name since 2005 has been the Faculty of Russian Philology and National Culture.
An important component of the educational work of the faculty is its focus on love and respect for the Russian language and our national culture. Every year, the Faculty organizes a Festival of Slavonic Writing and Culture,
it conducts volunteer and missionary activities, holds meetings with famous scholars, writers, journalists, film directors, our guests have already been Andrei Zvyagintsev, Zakhar Prilepin, Alexander Arkhangelsky, Andrei Maximov, Sergei Sholokhov and others.
The faculty includes a literary and creative association “Vocation,” organizing photo exhibitions with participation of students and famous photographers of the city.
Many students of the faculty have become laureates and winners of All-Russian, interregional and regional contests “Crystal Crane” (nomination “The Best Young Journalist”), “Development of research work”, “Yesenin’s Spring,” “Student Spring,” “Golden Credit Book,” competition of innovative projects, etc. Many have earned scholarships of the President of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Russian Federation, become winners of Prizes of the Ryazan Region named after Academician I.I. Sreznevsky and A.I. Solzhenitsyn (awards of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation).
Students of the faculty take an active public position, participating in volunteer movement, in public actions to promote reading (“Reading Trolleybus”) and respect for our native language (participation in the Day of the Russian language in Ryazan), in all faculty and university events.
