The Department of cultural studies was established in 1994 by Doctor of Philosophy V.G. Erokhin. It provides teaching of cultural studies disciplines at various faculties of the university, as well as implementation of educational programs of cultural studies and creative orientation.
The main areas of research activities of the department are: study of theoretical aspects of the functioning of culture in a historical perspective and at the present stage
socio-cultural modeling
project activities in the socio-cultural sphere.
The lecturers of the department are members of the "Russian Cultural Studies Society" and "Russian Philosophical Society".
The department holds a yearly event - the regional stage of the All-Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren in art (world artistic culture), the expert jury includes lecturers of the department.
