Main tasks:
collection, integration and analysis of field data and stationary landscape-ecological research data,
spatial and temporal modeling of geochemical processes in natural environments (also GIS-based),
study of anthropogenic geochemical evolution of landscapes taking into account their structure and specificity,
organization of research and development of postgraduate and undergraduate students of the Institute of Natural Sciences, implementation of R&D in the educational process.
Basic capabilities of the laboratory:
determination of content of total and active forms of heavy metals and other elements in various environmental objects - in soil, atmospheric precipitation, natural waters, vegetation, and analysis of compliance with hygienic standards,
determination of specific activity of gamma-emitting radionuclides (137Cs, 232Th, 226Ra, 40K) in soils, construction materials, wastes, fodder, agricultural products, wood, bottom sediments, natural waters, peat and other objects, as well as 222Rn radon in water, analysis of levels of natural and technogenic radioactivity,
sieve analysis of granulometric composition of sandy soils and subsoils,
analysis of environmental condition of surface atmosphere (dust level, carbon dioxide content, gamma background, concentration of mobile aeroions).
