The Department of foreign languages of the Institute was established in 1962 to teach foreign languages at a number of faculties. Its first head was R.S. Rozenberg.
Today, the department teaches English, German and French.
The Department’s research is focused on philology and pedagogy. It is aimed at studying current issues of linguistics, translation studies, literary studies, research of various types of texts, business and diplomatic discourse in English, as well as studying the processes of integration and internationalization of the world educational space systems, issues of intercultural communication and organization of teaching foreign languages in the context of dialogue of cultures and other aspects of modern philology and pedagogy.
The high level of all this research work is confirmed by the effective postgraduate programs in general pedagogy, history of pedagogy and education, as well as extensive international relations.
