The range of scientific interests of the department lecturers includes problems of teaching foreign languages in higher and secondary school, linguistics, media linguistics, linguistic and regional studies.
The educational process employs modern educational technologies, including project activities, training sessions, business games, case studies, problem-oriented technologies for teaching teamwork on complex solutions to practical problems.
Cooperation with regional schools is one of the key areas of work. Contests and Olympiads are organized together with leading Ryazan schools: the University has effective agreements with Lyceum No. 4, Gymnasium No. 5, and cooperation with School No. 6 with in-depth study of the French language.
